Hi Good Folks---
I have in my Gigabyte Z77X-D3H, i5 Ivybridge, 2x8gb DDR3 RAM =16GB of Corsair CMX16GX3M2A1600C11 XMS3 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz CL11
Have had this for sometime now. I am not that conversant in the BIOS when it comes to RAM voltage etc. It looks like mine is at 1333 MHZ @ 1.5v

Someone said it overheats if run at 1600MHz at 1.65v. Which is best to run it at.

Also I be thinking of buying another 2x8Gb to make it 32GB.

My use is Photography with Abobe Lightroom6 + PSCS5.
Any info will be Appreciated Lots.

That's the problem..RAM says 1600 but it runs at 1333. So if they say Stock is 1333 why say 1600...

You will have to enable XMP in your BIOS to run the memory at advertised speed. It will automatically change all the parameters needed to run the RAM at tested speed.

And DDR3 kit @1600Mhz, 1.5v is good enough. There is no reason that you should run it with 1.6v or higher.

Thank You Greybeard...I did enable XMP in Bios when I installed them.

Is this correct-- XMP-1600 800 MHz 11.0 11 11 30 1.500 V This is what Speccy says..
THANKS..

I had issue with this ram a few months ago where the speed did not adjust from 1333 to 1600 despite enabling XMP. I previously had the 2x4GB of the same ram where XMP worked fine.

In the end I replaced the XMS3 with Corsair Vengeance ram and the XMP applied correctly.
