Corsair CX 600

I agree with Acme here. If you've got one lying around, then fair enough. Otherwise try to get something with better quality internals. The CX series are known for using cheaper capacitors. Either of these two would be good choices:

Edit: can't link to competitors here, but another alternative at the same price point would be the EVGA B3 550W unit. It's based off a Superflower Leadex Silver platform and the 750W review sample was very good, plus it's fully modular:

CX are decent when they work for the price but they don't live as long as higher quality power supplies, on average. And when a PSU dies it can take other components with it.
I wouldn't risk it. To me a CX is more a PSU for a budget build with maybe a Pentium CPU and you only buy the CX when it's on sale for 27.99...

Thats extremely mellow advice from you mistersprinkles compared to the last few I have seen you post on here. :D:D:D

At the end of the day the CX series never was a decent psu from the day they ditched Seasonic as the OEM. It went from a quality unit that could deliver above and beyond it's stated output to a cut down budget psu with cheap internals. I would never advise anyone to buy one as there are far better units available. Which version of it do you have because some of these so called 600w psu's only have 480w on the all important 12v rail? Another thing to note is that all of the CX600 models (CX600M included) are only rated for delivering their power at a pathetic 30 degrees C (any decent psu will be rated at 40 or preferably 50 degrees C).

In other words, OP, Myself and pastymuncher both think CX is rather pants...
