I was thinking of purchasing the 2gb of corsair pc6400 twinx xms2,
However i am now thinking of going for the corsair dominator as i have heard good things about this memory,

My question is, is it worth splashing out the extra cash for this or will the xms2 do fine? i will be interested in overclocking my e6420 but nothing groundbreaking

I have the dominator pc6400 cas4 ram and it easily hits 900mhz+ still at 4-4-4-12. They do have the ProMos chips unlike the higher clocked dominators which use the micron chips but reading corsairs forum, it would appear that these chips come from a higher bin and therefore should be able to overclock quite well. I havent used the other ram you stated but the fact that they have there own fancy heatspreader should help with cooling and aid in any overclocking you may do.

Another thing is that ive read about, is corsairs good customer service. With more and more parts failing on me over the years this becomes one of the main things i require when looking for a pc part. I would consider crucial also too. Their customer service is second to none in my experience plus their up here in Scotland so theres never a need to send any item overseas and you get your item back in only a couple of days.
