is the 4Gb corsair xms2 kit on special any good for overclocking? looking to try and get some ram that can do 900Mhz easily?

Had the 2gb kit and could hit 900mhz though I had to loosen the timings. Not sure how much headroom there was left however.

I got some of this last week before it was on special :( . Saying that I put it in and its running at 940 i think (375 on cpu x 2.5) @ 1.8v, I can't set the memory speed seperate so to keep my cpu overclock.

Thats what i wanted to hear, with 900Mhz on the ram i should be able to push my E6300 to 3.1Ghz, if i can hit 940 ill be able to do a whisker off of 3.3Ghz cpu allowing, so that should do nicely.

Go for lower CAS latency kits (CAS4) if you're wanting to overclock it. Gives you more headroom as you can just slacken the timings (if you need to) to get to higher mhz without taking too much of a performance hit.

SAid it before, the higher C5 ones are prob Failed Bin C4.

I forgot the normal DDR2 C4 (Heatsinked) can do 1000mhz as well (every kit I have used for builds).

i have them running at 900 5 7 7 20 at 1.8v i havent even tried to tighten the timings. thats on a ds4, this was so I could clock my cpu back to 7 x 450
