Well, I finally ordered my Corsair Grphite case last week and OcUK kindly delivered it today. Fab !

However when I opened the box, something rattled as I lifted out the polystyrene protected case, ....oooo what is that !

It happened to be the front lower detachable grill.

No problem you think.....just click it back into place and job done.
But wait a second, why would there be some tape around the top edge of it....??

Ahh, its so that it can be kept on long enough to get through packing and pass QC online checks ? lol

So, it was loose inside the white soft liner protecting the case, I doubt it was OcUK's fault, unless they were getting rid of knowingly damaged cases at a tenner off last week in the "one day only" deal....but even I am not that much of a consiracy theorist.

It is kind of reassuring to think that the Corsair QC / Packing guys would be so kind as to sticky tape the grills on for me though...nice touch !

Just noticed that the top one has it on too...but that one is ok....perhaps it is a common thing in transit that happens...but suffice to say...sticky tape...aint the solution guys !!

cheers mate.

I have taken the top cover off and looked at those stubs and they are quite tiny things, I bet they have had all sorts of trouble with it.

Just hope I can get a replacement easily.
I have webnoted OcUK to see what to do next.

Did any damage occur? Remember, the tape has to be low tack so no residue would be left behind. The grille could have popped out, stretching the tape until it finally came off in transit.

Skip to 2:55 when he removes the tape, it does sound like the low tack/masking type.

The Fractals were apparently well packaged, look what happened to them! :p

yup it is low quality low tack masking tape.

No damage to the case itself, but the little stubs that should be moulded and attached to the filter housing have...dissapeared !

Corsair has a good reputation for customer support so mail their RMA/Support? I would expect them to send it out free of charge.

Don't see what the problem is. The tape is always there, was there on my case too. It's to reduce the chances of the panel unclicking in transit and falling off, though I guess there's always the possibility of it happening (one side of my front panel had unclicked, just clicked it back again). If you can put it back on then it's fine isn't it?

And I don't see the supposed damage on the filter housing either. What tacks?

EDIT: Ok took a closer look and compared with mine - they have broken off. As above, Corsair have one of the best RMAs in the business; get in touch with OCUK first though!

:D dude....the tape is the ONLY thing holding the front on the case, the lugs moulded on the removable filter cover have broken off in transit, ...we are just joking around with the use of masking tape...:p

Didn't sound like you were 'joking around' to me from your OP . I was saying that all cases have the tape. But yeh, on my second glance like I said there are bits broken off.

My 600t came with a dodgy fan, emailed corsair and they are sending me a new fan for nothing. If the lugs on the dust filter have broken off. Give corsair a email, show pictures and they will send you a new one free of charge. No need to enter bank details or paypal!

I could go as far as saying, corsair are as good as logitech. But i yet to test that theory. Logitech send me a brand new g27 for nothing and corsair only sent me a new fan. A fan was all i needed so no comparison :)
