I should have enough money to start my build soon, but I can't (and probably never will) i'm finding it hard to stick to a choice of power supply. I just want the most reliable, stable, long-lasting PSU I can get for max £60.
Considering:

Corsair CX 500
Corsair GS 500
Cooler Master Silent Pro 500W
XFX 550W

The GS is better than the CX right? The Cooler Master is so tempting because it is modular but I feel like the other two brands might be better in terms of longevity. How much messier is non-modular? I'm also worried about cable length as it'll probably be a bottom mounted case.

Thanks

Id go for the one that has the cheapest RMA process. Corsair HX blew up on me and spend 35 quid to send to Netherlands. Upside is they sent me a better one. Id go for the CM, personally I wouldn't buy a corsair unless it was a hx or ax

I'd second that. The XFX modular ones, I've heard good things about, can't say much for the lower-end ones. I have a CX600 myself, works fine. It doesn't look great though, the sleeving is very non-dense (can't think of the word right now, haha). Can't say from personal experience about any of the others though.

(Had CX600 powering a full system nigh on 8 months now, no problems.)

One thing to consider when buying a PSU for gaming, is the amps on 12V.

The CX500 can output 34A (408W), the CM SP500 can also do 34A, while the GS500 has 39A. The GS is made by CWT (ChannelWell), who makes a lot of Corsair PSUs.

It depends how much power you need. But if you are cash strapped, OCZ can be an option. They provide good power, and their latest lines (made by Sirtec) seem a lot better than their older FSP models.

List of PSU specs, reviews and manufacturers (aka OEMs).

In that budget, I would go for the CM Silent Pro 600, if the power is enough for your build.

iv got a gs 800 a great psu but the downside is its not modular and ive got more pci e and sata cables than anyone needs

Thanks for the responses, given me more to think about!
Does anyone know the RMA processes for the other companies mentioned like Cooler Master?
I heard with Antec you deal with the company you bough it from even after 1 year and the RMA is posted to a UK address. That sounds Pretty good.
