Well i had fun today, open up the third H100 today to install and the rad in the middle was damaged slightly, one of the long screws were missing, that's ok i have more. Whilst tightening a screw up into the fan the corner shattered.

But it gets worse the mounting stand-off whilst being tightened sheared right off, never has that ever happen to me before, so i go read corsairs forums and it has already happened to some one else. Being female i just don't have the strength to do that, just starting to reek of poor quality.

Send it back and get it replaced if you really must have that cooler. I purchased the H80 and same day I got it and opened the box then installed it to find they sound like jet planes taking off even with pwn enabled and worse the pump made some weird noises, terrible quality and never again, it went right back and purchased the Thermalright Archon and it cools better then the naff Corsair H80 with hardly any noise (even had to check it was running at first), but I should have known really not to trust Corsair with coolers after the ram cooler from hell I purchased had fans that rattled from day 1 and their only help was to send out a replacement after I send them back the ram cooler.. 2 replacements later all failed with fan problems. In the end it cost me more in postage then what the cooler cost in the 1st place, so gave up.... ripped the fans out of it and purchased different fans for the cooler not made by corsair and has been great since. Proving their quality control is not there in any form and they won't even replace the fans on their product to better ones but waste the time of their customers in this manner, read their forums on their ram coolers everyone is annoyed with them.

Corsair are losing their way I think and getting bigheaded with the success they had with other products in the past, like good power supplies and memory.. Even their latest versions of their famous power supplies are well poor compared to their version 1 ranges.

You know how to vote to get them to get their act together again... Don't buy their stuff and let them read such reviews and realise why their customers of the past have moved on to other companies.

Up to you really if you have your heart set on that cooler and it's the only one that will fit your case, pray you get a good one and do yourself a favour and replace the stock fans that come with it, they are terrible.

Yeah my first H80 sounded like a bloody fish bowl and the pump kept dropping under 150rpm. My 955 would hit 80/90+. I took it back to the online shop (HQ just up the road :p) and they replaced it on the spot. The fans are way too loud, I had to replace them.... you'd think Corsair would offer decent fans on expensive cpu coolers?!

p.s I'd say average quality... decent performance.

You obviously tightened the screw too much then, when screwing onto a plastic fan you can only do it very slightly. I almost cracked the corner of one of my h80 fans whilst doing that. Slade when you say your pump was dropping below 150rpm on your h80, did you have it plugged into the cpu fan header? i might be wrong but i think that cpu fan header doesnt give a continuous 12v supply. I have mine into the psu molex direct. Its superb. And id say top quality and brilliant performance myself.

Get an air cooler. At least they use spring loaded screws so you know exactly when to stop. Plus they don't have to be as loud to perform well.

it sounds like you plugged the pump into the CPU_FAN slot, or some other slot that didnt provide full power the whole time.

however, if your case is big enough (which it probably is if it can fit a H100), your RAM isnt very tall and you dont plan on moving the PC very much i'd get the thermalright silver arrow.

£45 cheaper than the H100, very similar cooling performance and nice and quiet :)

You could consider on of the EK watercooling kits that OcUK have started selling recently.
They cost a bit more but I would expect them to perform better.

Although I didn't do watercooling in the old days I have managed to do my own custom loop quite recently and these days they're really not as hard to set up as people might think. A bit like putting a PC together, as long as you don't rush it you should be fine.

I'm just hoping rjkoneill doesn't read this...

yeah I was refering to slades high temps (poorly written reply edited), mine is 45c max on stock settings. I have been tweaking to 3.8ghz atm in the low 50's. I didnt relise slade had an oc on the chip, I wasnt paying attention :o. I think its around the 79c mark which the chip will shut down. I tend to keep mine under 65c if I can help it. I have 955 c2 and it isnt the best overclocker; doesn't like 4ghz at all :(

sometimes these fan screws don't have much of a slot cut in them to help them cut a thread, and what it does is push the plastic aside/compress it, when it needs to cut a thread, because compressing it and pushing it aside will cause it to shatter/break at the next weakest point as your seeing, i've had this happen before, and also used one of those screw drivers that clips the screw to the head and then heated the screw with a lighter to assist the thread cutting process !!

I did consider them but i read about the nickel blocks http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18301959

I think water cooling is the way forward though ;)

In fairness the EK Watercooling kits that OcUK stock use the new EN process which I believe should prevent this happening to those blocks.

But I can understand your concern.

I was going to get one of these for my new build but not now, not when the qaulity is so poor. Glad you made this post op.

Reading on there forums theres several problems glad i didnt order will stick to my Noctua.

You're right... i did have the pump of my other H80 plugged into CPU_F slot... cos thats where my H50 was... and my old Titan F HS/fan. On AMD OD it would show 150rpm... my cpu would hit 80/90+, i couldnt flick the off switch quick enough! My new H80 is on the CPU_F slot again... but no probs this time. TBH I didnt know they shouldnt be plugged into CPU_F... im still learing this stuff

Just plug it into the molex mate. You will have to have something plugged into the cpu fan slot though or it will say cpu fan failed. But coming off the h80 youve got a molex and 3 pin connector, i dont see why you couldnt plug both in. You can disable that warning too in the bios as another option .
