Hi all.

Looking in to remove my intel stock cooler on my i7 so i can crank it up a little as its pointless having an unlocked chip if its not overclocked.

so im looking towards the Corsair Hydro H110 push/pull

but not sure how i would go about this?

is this the fan i would need Corsair AF140

from what i have read. there is not control software for this.

so how would i control the fans speeds? i allso would need to have the fan pluged in to headers all other my board witch kinda makes it look messy.

is there a cheap way of getting this all hidden?

i have got no worrys about making sure it fits in the case i want Corsair Obsidian 900D Super Tower Case

any help would be great.

thanks :D

If you went for the H100i instead you would get the Corsair Link software which can be used to monitor and control fan speeds. Even with the H110 though, the fans will ramp up and down depending on temperature. My H100 only ever gets noisy when I benchmark. Playing games it sometimes hits mid speed and is audible but not intrusive. As for fan headers, I guess it depends on your motherboard. Mine is an Asus Z68 series and the fan headers sit right above the CPU, so it looks quite neat on my setup.

Those AF140 fans will be fine.

You can easily hook the fans upto your motherboard and use your motherboards fan control system / software. I have an asus motherboard so that has Q-fan software; it will automatically adjust the fan speed according to load or user settings.

You can plug 3 fans into one of these ( there is one for 5 fans ) and can control them all using one header, likely you will want the fans on your radiator running at the same speed.

I have my 3 radiator fans plugged into one of these and into a 3 pin fan socket makes things much more simple.

I'm pretty sure the above type of PWM splitter with PSU power feed 12v directly to the fans. If fans are not PWM and hooked up to PWM signal they run full speed all the time with nothing to control the 12v power they are getting from the PSU.

The stock fans used on the h110 are higher spec than the AF140's you can purchase separately. It's a great cooler, I use mine in a pull configuration and it works fine, i7 3770k overclocked to 4.6ghz around 50c in games. Here's the spec for the stock h110 fans:

Fan dimensions: 140mm x 25mm
Fan speed: 1500 +/- 10% RPM
Fan airflow: 94 CFM
Fan static pressure: 1.64mm-H2O
Noise level: 35dB(A)

thanks for getting back to me.

i take using that connecter with 3fans running from the one fan socket that horrorxpunk said about is the easyest way to do this?

i have enough fan control ports on my motherboard. but there dotted all over the place.

and this cooler in push pull is going to have 4 plugs and its just going to get messy

is there any other ways of doing this?

thanks never had a push pull config before so new to this.

cheers

Cable ties are your best friend what I usually do is route cables around the back of the case and just tie them up. I was using every fan connector on my motherboard but had them all tied back out of the way.

i went with the 5 fan version of that cable.you showed me works great with just 2 fans on. cant wait to add some noctua ones.

thanks for the advice everyone. :D
