Hello all, I just noticed while browsing through youtube many videos on modding the H50.
Some video comments state that the pump cant handle larger volumes of liquid ?

What are your thoughts on Modding this cooler?

Cheers all

My thoughts? Pointless exercise if you're after performance. The only reason I'd do it would be if I really enjoyed modding that sort of stuff and had felt a need to just to see what it can do.

When it comes down to it, you'll be adding proper WC parts, and to get any better performance you'll be changing the rad first, then probably tubing, followed by maybe adding a res. After all that, there have been some people who said their pumps failed on larger modded loops, so you'll need to change that too. So basically you'll have a custom WC loop with nothing left except maybe the fan from the Corsair (which isn't very good anyway).

If it's more performance you need, look at the Thermalright Venomous X or Noctua NH-D14. If you must have water, OcUK have some kits on their site now, should give you an idea of what you need.

re:

I really do like the idea of the H50 as its so small.
I don`t think adding brick / weight size coolers is the way forward in my personal view as I previously used the tunig tower cooler which is just to much.
I like the idea of the H50 as I said but feel its not quite as good with temps as I first thought it would be and having noticed people modding it seemed a solution.
anyway thanks for the responce. Maybe I might have to finally go down that road of full on water cooling;)

no way would i buy a h50 to mod. if you dont think its good enough then you should just buy a custom wc kit.

i bought the h50 to be cool and silent first and foremost, which with my noctua fans it is. the temps are good even on very low rpm, and ofc silent, so i havent been able to clock my i5 750@ 3.3 on stock voltage and my temps dont go over 50/

i wouldnt mod mine, if i was gonna do that sort of thing i would just go full water cooling ( im just trying to get the courage up for that one :p )

but regarding the H50, mines got a couple of noctuas on push/pull and for a small unit i cant fault it, its great.
