Overclocked 4.20Ghz at 1.36vcore at the bios was surprise me with Corsair H50 with 2 x vipers as a push pull, what a great result compare to my Prolimatech Megahalems Rev B CPU Cooler.

1 fan of titan with megahalems give me 81-83C within 15 mins
2 fans of vipers with Corsair H50-1 High-Performance CPU Watercooler give me just 74-77C ! Quite a shocking ! Could be a better viper fans now.

Vipers are awesome fans. I have 8 in push pull on my 2 dual rads for my custom water loop and they give excellent results. They cost a bit but are fantastic bits of kit. My q9650 at 4 ghz and dual gtx 280's run nice and cool under load!

Hi bulldog,

Only thing that comes to mind is that you didn't set Megahalems properly the first time? I'm like 90% sure that it should perform better and the temps difference would not be coming to 8*C or so. Were you testing it with Viper fans as well?

I probably put little too much MX-3 on first time when I had i7980X. But, I stick with Corsair H50-1 now as this is the best result so far!

Am i reading that right only 1 fan on the mega?

If thats correct then no wonder the H50 is better atm, as you used 2 fans lol.

I may be reading that wrong, but thats how that reads to me.

heres an interesting test

i just set up a megahalem on a 980x at 4.2ghz behing me

temps were 65'c max with a single viper fan.

this is in a room with 24 i7 based systems all running occt linpack [so its quite hot]

i think if ambient was a little cooler then i would be topping out at around 62'c max

this was with the standard prolimatech paste.

cpu vcore at 1.35v to match bulldogs test :)

Thats very impressive rjk, my 920 at 4ghz hits 76c on the highest core with LinX, cooler is a lapped TRUE black with 2 x vipers.

32nm cpu though setter - hence the temps.

it would be around the same as yours if it was a bloomfield 45nm

cant say fairer than that when the ocuk tech department is full of hot systems on stress test!

i think bulldog probably did mount the cooler properly but as bifday suggested, the vipers in pushpull on the megahalems would net him some great temps

Going to try that this weekend with megahalem with 1 viper fan. Rich, What did you do with the standard prolimatech paste ? eg: a small dot in the center of the cpu or spread a thin layer on the heatsink and the cpu and attached it ? That's a very good temperature!

Yep, forgot about them being 32nm, impressive still considering the environment in which its being tested, 24 i7 rigs, no need for any heating in that room il bet.:D

I found that spreading worked better on my old lapped q6600/TRUE combo as opposed to a line or a grain. Though my i7 hasnt been lapped so ive only ever used a line/grain, tbh they both gave the same results.
