background - Building a computer with a Silverstone Raven 3 (RV-03).
i5 sandybridge 2500K on a Asus Sabertooth mobo. (P67)
Single GPU at moment with SLi in Q3-4 of this year.

Right, like the H70 and don't mind the extra price for it on the H50. But now seeing other closed systems on the market and wondering if there is anything better in people's minds...? ideas and opinions...

Before you post - not wanting Aircooled, staying with the closed system.

Have you considered the Antec Kúhler H2O? It's had some great reviews and in direct comparison to the Corsiars (but only few degrees difference) - price is the main difference - and has had good forum feedback.

THe H70 is 'apparently' quite noisy - but you could swap out the fans but this starts to get expensive. But if noise isn't an issue then you may not mind - plus it's relative to what you're used to.

The Corsair Hydro H60 comes free with an Akasa Apache Fan at the moment with OcUK - so would be, comparitively, a cool and quiet setup.

TBH, there all much of a muchness - only a few degrees between them - and i think the same manufacturer makes both the Corsair and Antec coolers (just slightly differing components and rebranded.)

If you have a windowed case i would personally go with which ever suits your setup as the temps will be pretty close (depending on which reviews you read)...

Additional: Whichever one you get i would be tempted to run a push/pull setup (h70 already does - so would the H60 with the free fan)

I just got the H60 and couldn't reccomend it enough.

Got it on an overclocked 2500k at 4.5 GHZ and under prime keeps the temps below 62C, I also have a very similar case.

the reason that I would recommend this over the H70 or H50 for that matter is the fitting. IT was soo amazingly easy to fit. (apart from needing screws for the 2nd fan as Corsair only provide 4 screws).

I say go for it, with the free apache its a steal and will easily handle the temps on your I5.

Many thanks.

Forgot to mention will be purchasing 2x Gentle Typhoons 1850rpm with it as they are quieter than stock.

Woah just saw the voltage on your 4.4Ghz overclock.

Yeah, i'm very fortunate - as my original intention was to get a a respectable clock with minimal voltage (i.e. not the max clock the cpu could provide).

However, this CPU does run very warm even on low voltages - so it has the yang to its ying.

i'm thinking of getting the coolit eco, even easier to fit and prob add a second fan to it

anyone know how much noise the fan on this makes?

get a better cooler?

It's warm no matter what's thrown at it (only a few degrees difference) - but it's stable - so i suspect a duff sensor/s.

I've experienced this before and learnt not to get too beguiled by idle temps (even load temps) - after testing with different coolers, reseating etc - as long as the sytsem is stable and within tolerance.

THanks for all the advice.

Yellowbeard - Been putting off this build for a while, and although the H80 is looking good, it depends if any other components are delayed. What do you mean "more flexible?"

Many thanks.

crickey stockmust be loud then

I installed a GT 1850 as a case fan the other week and finding it rather noisey - even atlower rpms

also is quite annoying as the rpm changes seem to go in "steps" - hard to explain

I've got a Corsair H70 for my set up, and I think it's brilliant. It's pretty big though, so just be careful how much space you have in your case. I've got an Antec 902 V3 case and I had to take off the fan on the window and saw off the clip that keeps it in place because the H70 is so big.

I run 4.4Ghz i7 2600K also at 1.3V. Idle temps around 30-35

Many thanks.

As above, a solid choice, especially with the H60. I bought two and just put them in last night.

On Corsairs fan after 1h Prime 95 Blend - Average 59oC

Gentle Typhoon x2 after 1h Prime 95 Blend - I can't get any core above 47oC

It's also true what they say about the fans spinning at a pitch you can't hear, my H60 system makes LESS noise now, shame about my two Asaka blue fans I put in the roof.... Not so quiet ;)

Just to show you the size of the H70 with stock fans...
