decided to go with the h80i instead of a custom loop, for both money and space restrictions.
one thing I just thought of though , is it possible to mod one of these with clear tubes and green liquid?

They are sealed for life and not designed to be messed with.

I have seen people mod these sort of things, but its more agro than the item is worth.

Invalidates the warranty, if it goes bang and takes out your system you are buggered.

Dont see why not. I have a old h50 kicking about might give it a whirl as i always wondered how much liquid was actually in it. If you ensure u seal the joints no reason why it wont work. But as mentioned its prob a bit of a bodge
