Corsair Hydro H60 - CPU Hotter after Windows Reinstall

Hi,

I am currently using a Hydro H60 on my i7-6700k and I used to get idle temps of around 16-17 Degrees C however after reinstalling windows I now get idle temps of 40 Degrees C and it sometimes spikes to 50 within a second. The case is clear of dust so I have no clue why it is doing so.
Any ideas?

Just a coincidence that you happened to reformat ?

Did you also tighten, untighten anything related to the H60, temps shooting up quickly is usually sign of a incorrectly fitted/too much paste mount of the cpu cooler.

What was the ambient temperature when you were getting idle temps of 16-17c?

Ambient temp was around 19-20 Degrees C.

Haven't touched the H60 since before the reinstall

It's the old temperatures of 16-17c that were probably wrong.

You're not going to get a core temperature lower than ambient without LN / phase change / peltiers etc.

Sounds more like the value over ambient.

My 50% overclocked cpu is 40 in a room thats 23 degrees.

If its reading 16 degrees then it sounds like its being run in an industrial walk in fridge.
