So I'm about to pull the trigger on a Corsair K70 /w brown MX switches.

But well, they're not cheap ! I have heard a couple of rumors out there that sometimes the LED's burn out ? and that you're kind of outta luck if it happens, because Corsair want you to return the KB back to them, rather than send you out a replacement then and there.

I guess I'd like to know if this is a geniune problem or just happened on a small few, but the small few are making a lot of noise about it.

Perhaps it was the 1st editions? Has anyone here experienced LED's going out on their K70's ?

From what I know an LED can die randomly on any Cherry MX keyboard. Usually due to ESD or some other static. I personally have not heard about complaints from owners of any other brand (this does not mean it has not happened) but maybe this is due to the steep price of the Corsair and the owners just not expecting it, given the price premium.

I have had a couple Corsair K95's replaced and the LEDs died on both, I switched over to the Ryos and had two of them replaced before getting my money back.

What I noticed with those two is that the LEDs were placed through a cutout of the key so it was showing and there was no shielding whatsoever. I noticed this on several other manufacturer keyboards which is the reason I didn't choose another LED keyboard. I am waiting for the ESD shielded LED keyboards to be released before I purchase a new one.

I had a K70 with blue LEDs and blue switches a few of the LEDs where dimmer than the others and 1 died completely in the first week of me having it, after a bit of research it seamed to be a common problem so I returned it OC refunded and now I am waiting for the RGB versions hoping they are more reliable.
