Hi,

Anyone upgrading from their M65 Pro to the new Elite mouse?

I nearly pulled the trigger on ordering one, but now i am not sure i like the new design. I think they made a load of changes just for the sake of it...

The Bad
  • Why have they gone back to silver on the metal frame? Black matched their Keyboards more (K70 etc).
  • They have exposed the front part of the frame and closed up the back, which is debatable whether this looks better or worse. Its no longer symmetrical either and looks like part of the plastic is missing in front of the sniper button. On the other side its not.
  • Due to the above frame changes the light out the back under the logo is now just in one concentrated spot and doesn't 'spread' out the sides too anymore.
  • I don't like the new DPI LED, its just a line, which looks odd, the 'target' style LED looked better and more "FPS".

Neutral
  • Side buttons and DPI buttons are bigger and now glossy. Undecided if this is good or not but leaning towards not liking how it looks and they will be easier to accidentally press. Also where do you rest your thumb? On the Pro you could rest it inbetween the sniper and the two top buttons.

The Good
  • I do like the new LED ring on the scroll wheel a lot.
  • Has a better sensor, if you need 18,000 DPI!! (Currently my default is set to 3,000!)
  • The white/grey version does look really good and a big improvement over the black/white of the old M65 Pro.
  • I like that they removed the "Corsair" lettering from the left mouse button. (Do Corsair really need to put so much branding on all their stuff? Your build just ends up looking like an advertising billboard!)

For reference...

Which do you prefer I'm thinking of buying one of these and I'm unsure on which to get as I like the look/ better RGB placement of the pro but the buttons look like they're in a far better and more comfy spot on the elite

The elite does seems to be better to me when using it and the buttons are better placed. The lighting is also much 'cooler' on the elite. Especially the lighting on the scroll wheel on the elite... But both are great mice, you can't really go wrong with either to be honest!

Yeah its a good mouse, only thing i've noticed is i've had left click issues and had to RMA.

This just came out today which looks quite good... The Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro
