Corsair middle button failures

Hi folks,

Two questions...
I've been using the Corsair M65 since it was released but now the middle button no longer works. The scroll function still works just not the click operation. Having gone on the corsair website I see that it looks like a quite common fault.

Can anyone recommend a good reliable mouse with at least 2 thumb side buttons, oh and wired. I had a Roccat Kone before and it failed pretty quickly also, so not keen on them unless reliability has improved.

Also I'm planning a mechanical keyboard, what's the deal with the red, brown and blue switches? I fps and mmo quite a bit if that helps for recommendations.

Logitech g700 is a wireless mouse but you can also use it as a wired mouse as well but anyway my friend has got that mouse and he highly recommends it , but if you wanted a proper wired mouse i would suggest getting a Razer deathadder 2013 as people recommend it.... a lot and also the shape is good . Another mouse that might be good but i don't know whenever it as i had no experience with it is the Steelseries rival which is very similar to the deathadder . ( Im actually thinking about getting the rival but i cant decide between it and the deathadder ).
And as for the mechanical cherry mx switches the best for fps are blacks/reds as they have a really fast activation point ( you only have to push them 2mm down to activate the switch instead of pressing it all the way down as you would on a traditional rubber membrane keyboard) the difference between reds and blacks is the force of press , the blacks are the hardest to press as they require 60g of force whereas reds only require 40g . Another type of switches are blues and browns which are meant to have a tactile feel to them unlike the blacks/reds , cherry mx blue switches need to pressed all the way down and when they activate they create a audible ''click'' and give you the feel of you pressing it whereas the browns still have a tactile bump but they dont make the audiable click as the blues do when they get activated.
Personally i use a Steelseries 6gv2 keyboard which uses cherry mx black switches and i find them ok to press but they took me a bit of time to get used to (also they can give me a sore pinky after long periods of gaming when you have to hold down shift for sprinting lol ) so i would go for reds next time but its all personal preference .
I hope this helps :)

If you are happy with the shape and weight of the M65, I would recommend a Logitech G400S. For all intents and purposes, it is an MX518 or G400, just with a bit of different aesthetics (shape still the same), which is very similar to that of the Corsair. I actually went the other way, from a G400 to an M40, which is identical to your M65, just without the sniper button.

As for your mechanical keyboard question, the colours are to do with how the mechanism works and how they react. Rather than explain each, you can find out the differences here:http://www.keyboardco.com/blog/index.php/2012/12/an-introduction-to-cherry-mx-mechanical-switches/

As with all peripherals, try them out!! They are very personal things and how your hand grips a mouse or how you type will differ to how I do. If that simply isn't an option, G400S is a good choice, without going from optical to laser as you would with 500+, keeping a similar shape, and red switches would serve you best, even if you may prefer another (but you could not tell without trying them out)

Why did you go from a g400 to a m40? interested as my mx518 is get on a bit and has middle wheel issues :-(
