I've not really seen many people talking about these - i'm currently about to finalise a new build and have SP120's right now...

What are peoples thoughts/experiences on the fans:

Essentially my theme is white/blue accents so the Blue LED would look quite nice and the pressure on the SP120s is great and fits my low RPM/noise intentions. They would be cooling a 360mm and 480mm SR2 Hardwarelabs Rad, probably space for push/pull on the 480 - unknown on the 360 so will see once its all in.

Given the design of the case you would not see the bottom row on the 480mm, only the top in push/pull. the 360mm you would only see the fan blades as its hidden within the case.

Thoughts, recommendations, opinions, alternatives?

Cheers!

Beyond that, it seems those who previously owned SP120s think the MLs are fabulous, much quieter and better performing... while most others think they're about as good as the alternative choices already are... perhaps slightly not as good.

If looks are your main thing, get 'em.
If not, look at something like Vardar 120 ERs or the various Noctuas (not all of which are beige, these days).

If i hadnt had just bought 20 Vardar fans I would have bought these.

Haha! You have too many rads Greebo!

So these bad boys are arriving tomorrow:
Corsair HD Series RGB LED Case Fans
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cors...3-fan-pack-includes-controller-fg-063-cs.html

Basically I've ordered 7 of those, including two controller/hubs. My idea is to run the push pull using my SP120s where they will not be in view and these on top of the rads. As a source of LED light i'll be playing with them to create a nice blend of white and blue probably.

I tried not to look at the price while I paid because for some reason £165 on fans seems crazy when you have draws full of them. But tiz done!

Also forgot to say thanks, looks/performance so these seem a good balance and I also like the controllers packaged within because my NZXT grid+ V2 is total crap for most fan voltages.

What 8 Pack said.
The MLs will be much better than the SPs you now have, but I will get Gentle Typhoon 1850 (AP-45 PWM) or 2150 PWM (AP-60 PWM), and if you can't find them get GTs, get Vardar F4-120ER

Just realised I needed 8 haha! 1 More ordered... Also accidentally order a load of other bits again. This hobby.

Sorry for the offtopic but Greebo is your titan XP that temp under load? Using a chiller im guessing?

No chiller, he has more radiators than your average 5 bed house. I've order a load of the expensive thermal pads he used so will see if mine turns out as good...

I have a fair few rads also but 29 degrees is nuts, my 980s are 24 degrees when idle atm but even if i disable one and underclock the other it still runs into the 30s. Once i overclock them in theyre nearly hitting 50 lol.

Im guessing titan XP must have a huge die area to pass that much heat through, i guess theyre probably probably much lower power also, is the TDP much lower on the new titans?

Back on topic, if your not fussed about looks my fav fan is still the Gentle Typhoons, i would swap all mine for them if i could afford it but theyre way out of my price range so i just try and pick them up from the MM when they occasionally come up, i just missed 3 selling the other day, i was not chuffed bout that.

Under load at 2088 as well :D

to be fair now I have all my fans set at around 10% fan speed so under 300 rpm and the pump at level 2 and the Titan hits 39C under load.

29C is for benching. Dont even need full fan speed either, about two thirds does the trick and full pump speed :D

Titan idles at room temp basically :)

Titans seem to run much cooler than 1080s, I suspect due to the die size.

Yeah and miles cooler than Maxwell, i might have to upgrade to Pascal faster than i thought i would. I was hoping these 980s would be a bit cooler than my 290xs but theres nothing in it once theyre both overclocked.

I would love 300rpm fanspeeds, got no chance with these cards though. I'm using a 480,360 and a couple of 240 rads and theyre nice thick rads too but once ya turn the fans down that low theyre only removing a fraction of the heat theyre capable of. I need like 800rpm for a resonable overclock and nearly 1000 rpm for max overclock to stop the water getting too warm.Could probably get away with 300rpm if i just used stock gpu speeds but who does that :)

Yeah pascal are pretty cool. I saw a video review showing at stock you can use a 1080 for browsing with just the waterblock attached, no water connected. Thats sufficient to remove the heat generated. Thats why a lot of AIb went with zero fan below 50C on pascal cards.

Titans are even cooler than 1080 pascals as well.

I'm enjoying the silence when not gaming. Just a shame my raid array is driving me nuts. Never realized before just how noisy they are!

The reason I have nothing but solid state in my machine... Network storage on a well thought out home network is the way... You won't notice those HDDs in the next room. Honestly think you should use them for core storage only so that's fine on a gigabit network.

The seem time alone in HDD was my reason for getting rid...

HDD's also throw out far more heat than you realise, try running HDD's with no air flow and see how hot they get quickly.

Regarding the fan side of things why are they all getting so damn expensive?

It's much money to "Buy a few and see what you think" anymore and every persons view of what is "Noisy" is relative.

sigh its a big first world problem :)

Tell me about it. I had to buy 20 for my new build at £14.99 each so that was £300 blown on just fans :(
