Well it looks like my replacement Corsair AX1200i has just gone pop. This is the second one I've had and was installed on January 16th, so it lasted a whopping 15 days.

The first one I purchased just before Christmas and literally exploded after 3 weeks of use.

This time, there was no bang, it simply shut off as I was working.

The failure also differs from the first in that with the power switched on, the lights on the motherboard illuminate and attempting to switch it on causes some sort of electrical click. Even one of the GPU fans gets a little kick and moves (not enough to rotate it). Additionally, after that to get the same thing to happen again, I have to switch the power off and on again.

The self test light also fails to come on, although as with the above, if I switch power on, and press it, there is some sort of electronic 'click' sound, which happens once, before having to turn it off/on again to repeat.

Obviously I am extremely frustrated, there seems to clearly be some sort of manufacturing error or bad components in them or in a particular batch/s.

Im not into giving 3rd chances and don't think I'll touch a Corsair PSU ever again after this experience.

Time to look for something new which will hopefully prove to be reliable, probably Seasonic or EVGA.
