Hi guys

The latest Corsair case is finally upon us.

Corsair Obsidian 700D Full Tower Case - Black @ £190.98 inc VAT

CA-025-CS_400.jpg

The steel structure has a matte black coating both inside out and is finished with a brushed aluminum faceplate for a professional look that’s both serious and awe-inspiring.

The power supply compartment, main compartment and the SATA bays each have dedicated cooling subsystems to prevent heat buildup.

A dust-filtered 140mm fan draws in cold air at the bottom of the chassis and exhausts it at the rear and top. This clever design forces fresh air directly over the graphics card and CPU. The hard drive / SSD bays are cooled by a separate 140mm fan which vents from the chassis via a sealed chamber and prevents the heat generated by the drives from entering the main compartment. The power supply compartment has its own dedicated intake and exhaust, also isolated from the main compartment.

Need even more cooling performance? The Obsidian Series 700D has pre-drilled support for top-mounted single, dual, and triple radiators, or up to three additional 120mm fans.
Advanced Features for Extreme Flexibility

Six drive bays with clever snap-in trays accommodate both 3.5” and 2.5” drives with no adapter necessary. A unique cable routing system virtually eliminates cable clutter that can impede airflow. The tool-free design allows for easy entry, easy access, and quick installation of 5.25” drives.

- Removable CPU backplate panel for easy heatsink installation
- Isolated cooling zones prevent heat buildup

Designed for Years of Performance
The Obsidian Series 800D is built to last through years of motherboard, power, memory, cooling, and component upgrades.
The steel structure has a matte black coating both inside out and is finished with a brushed aluminum faceplate for a professional look that’s both serious and awe-inspiring. A windowed side panel makes it easy to show off your work.

Three Isolated Cooling Zones

A dust-filtered 140mm fan draws in cold air at the bottom of the chassis and exhausts it at the rear and top. This clever design forces fresh air directly over the graphics card and CPU. The SATA hot-swap bays are cooled by a separate 140mm fan which vents from the chassis via a sealed chamber and prevents the heat generated by the drives from entering the main compartment. The power supply compartment has its own dedicated intake and exhaust, also isolated from the main compartment.
Need even more cooling performance? The Obsidian Series 800D has pre-drilled support for top-mounted single, dual, and triple radiators, or up to three additional 120mm fans.

Advanced Features for Extreme Flexibility
A four-drive SATA hot-swap drive bay sits in the front of the case, making it easier to install or swap hard drives on the fly. A unique cable routing system virtually eliminates cable clutter that can impede airflow. The tool-free design allows for easy entry, easy access, and quick installation of 5.25” drives.

Shame to see the 700D has the same dimensions as the 800D.
Case is just too big to be practical imo.

why would you buy the 800d now the 700d is 45 pounds cheaper you can get a custom window cut for less then 45 pounds, to me the price of the 700d make the 800d redundent.

a lot of people won't want the hassle of modding their side panel and the hot swap drives are in the 800D so combined this makes both products viable, depending on your requirements and needs.

So the 700d is practically the same as the 800d expect window and drive bays? I just notice the 700d does not have the hot swap either. Look like i will still be getting my 800d at some point this year still then.

i think 800D was just under 210 a while ago as well. whats this hot swap drive thing you guys talking about?

if your going to spend almost 200, you might as well go for the big brother.

The 800D has gone up in price due to the weakened dollar rate, the increase has hit nearly all resellers.

Did that change just now or did I imagine the 800D was there for ~£200.

Anyway, would you pay £44 more for hot swap bays you won't use :D

*maths fail

what is a hot swap bay? is it some kind of quick release hard drive bays? if so why not, plus you get the window case as well.
i have my heart set on the 800d, when i upgrade i'll deffo be getting that unless a better version comes out.

The dollar rate has been falling for around 2 months now from 1.6 to 1.45. The election isn't helping at the mo :(

Corsair do not have these as a sellable part I'm afraid. But if you want a 800D with a solid panel and no hot swap HDD's then thats why the 700D exists.

I already have the 800D but wanted solid panels on both sides. I should have jumped on the offer when you had them earlier this year for £9.99. Oh well, thanks anyway :)
