i recommended parts for my m8, who bought the lot and i've just been round to set it up.

however there was no POST, just fans.

after fiddling about for ages, then driving home for an hour so i can swap parts around, it looks like Corsair PSU is the problem.

looks like OcUK are gonna get contacted for an RMA tomorrow :/

anyone had a problem with their Corsair hx 520?

/edit, it was making some kind of crackling, clicking noise also.

.... :( man i'm fed up now, really wanted to help get this up and running.

3rd bad corsair ever is hardly alarm bells :p But i bet the Corsairs will be the new Hiper just to spite me :o

Difference is it arrived that way, could be a problem with the storage or in transition, or a number of other things, at least its not working for a month then doing it.

It's just a DOA, or a duff on arrival anyway....

The clicking noise happens when there is not enough load on the PSU, such as just fans connected, etc. Some kind of safety feature.

Have you tried a PSU tester just to rule out the mobo?

i've just sent mine back with a similar problem. It would post but after a random time it would power off. It could be during the setup of windows (2min max) or whilst just sat in the bios after 10-15seconds.

Just hoping it isn't the mobo in this new build. Unfortunately i didn't have another psu to test. Should have the replacement next week though hopefully.

Considering how popular these things are if 3 a day were failing I would not be worried.

Considering the volume sold to the amount that have failed they are rock solid.

Nothing at all to be worried about.

Trouble is maybe it was mishandled during transport
or this is simply user error such as not plugging in the additional 4 pin
connector. To me if fans etc are spinning then it sounds like a motherboard / bios settings / memory voltage issue some ram wont post on certain boards with
a default 1.8 v setting in bios etc etc in fact i think the psu is fine and it's something else.

people shouldnt be worried about the corsairs becoming 'another hiper. the difference is hipers were always poorly built using cheap components. Corsairs, on the other hand, are top notch.

Maybe its a rma time bomb. . . strange how all of a sudden they flare up all at once. . . . Boom Boom Boom Boom!

Look on the brightside, least you only have to send it to California right? 8,000 mile round trip innit?

Yep, probably because not many people had them and now ever thread in GH mentions them or recomends them for every type of build. More sales= More failures :)

just to clear things, it was not user error and is definately the PSU ;)

it does the exact same thing in 2 seperate systems, and both systems work with my Enermax :)

odd thing was that it powered up the system as soon as the PSU switch was turned on, the power switch on the case had no effect at all.
