If that's aimed at me the TX850M is not, and never was built by Seasonic. The OEM was CWT but the new versions are built by a company called Chicony Power Technology (CPT).

The TX850v2 used to be built by Seasonic but is now also built by CPT.

You can see who makes what here.

So basically we see them recommended all the time here "because they are made by Seasonic" when according to that list only 3 of their current line up actually is?

IMO avoid Corsair PSU's Mine just died tonight (not a cheap model either cost £130 in 2010 & came with a worthless 7 year warranty!) & I have been told I have to pay £40 to ship the unit to Holland for RMA   ... but Corsair will pay the replacement return apparently

I was using a Corsair CX 500W for 2 years and it's worked perfect and it's extremely quiet. Recently had to upgrade to a 650W due to some changes I made in the system.

If overclockers had the Corsair CX 750W I would have probably bought that just to stay with corsair

That list references a rather large number of glowing reviews as well. Corsair are recommended all the time because they've been a consistently safe bet for years. OEM is reasonably important, particularly when a company decides to trade some reputation for short term profit margins. I can't be bothered with keeping track of the various changes over time, fair play to anyone who does.

**If that's aimed at me**

Whats the title of this thread ? ---> Have you any thoughts on the Corsair PSU's?

My answer---> Quality, it was not aimed at you sorry you feel that way.

Have used various Cosair PSU's in builds and not been let down yet, using a HX850 in my rig[see sig] nearly 4years old have upgraded the system with various GPU'S, memory and the like, 3years at 4.2 the rest at 4.3 CPU volts 1.31v[Cpu-z] no adjustment needed to this setting except memory[6GB TO 12GB] from 1.65v down to 1.50v.

If Corsair are using a different company to build a particular model, the PSU must meet their standard and to sum up what l think about them, short amd sweet one word Quality. :)

Sorry you feel that way, but like anything else one PSU will fail now and again, as for the warrenty, it varies, my gaming headset failed l had to pay for delivery and return the company is based in germany, if l did not pay for the return l would not have got me headset back.

Sorry to get the wrong end of the stick but with peoples widespread assumption on here that Seasonic build Corsairs psu's, and Corsair psu's are faultless, which they are not, coupled with the fact that you put Quality with a ;) after i recommended a Seasonic i (wrongly) presumed you were having a dig.

To bring this thread to a close, It looks like every other component, sometimes it goes wrong.. sometime you can have one last years. I will stick with the corsair PSU for now but i'm disappointed that warranties nowadays require you to mail of the package at your own expense =( Although its cheaper then buying a new one its a damn shame they don't offer to re-imburse the postage costs!

Tbf, any psu can go pop. Ive had a brand spanking new seasonic go boom the first time it was switched on. 2 enermax liberty 620's also went pop. The good thing was though, when theese units did die. They didnt take anything else with them. Im now using a corsair HX850. Bought second hand on members market a few years ago. It's been faultless in all the time ive had it.

Lol, unfortunately this one did. But i wouldnt let it put me off them. Theyre very high quality units. Just a case of bad luck.
