Corsair RGB Pro question

I’ve got a msi b450 max mortar and ryzen 3600.

I just got a kit if 3600c18 Corsair RGB Pro and I feel the rgb needs 4 sticks.
Dummy kits cost £35 and a ram kit costs £67 is there any negative impact from running 4 stick, like having to drop the speed or mess with timings. Or is there any ryzen OC problems with running 4 sticks

do I buy dummy or drop another 16gb in

It depends. From what I recall, there were some Zen 2 users on here that couldn't get past 2933 with 4 DIMMs.

I'd expect later CPUs and newer motherboards/BIOS to do better, but I don't have any evidence of this.

Strictly speaking I don't think MSI officially support 3600 ddr4 on that board, so you might run into more problems with 4 sticks. Most likely until you actually buy and try them you will not know how good your particular cpu and board will manage 4 sticks. Yer I did notice that the other day but I don’t mind running at 3200 and playing with timings.

I think I’m just going to buy the dummy kit.
