Hi There,

Just need to put my mind at rest.
I'm building a ROG Dark Hero with a 5900x and Nvidia Geforce RTX 3090.
I think 850w will be fine but someone said the RM850x has (Japanese Capacitors) which has better reliability.
But they both come with 10 year warranty?

That is a bit of a billy bargain at the moment. Just bear in mind it is the out going model, the new one is the one with the hexagonal grill on the fan cover.
Personally I don't think the RMx version is worth another £66. The warranty is the important bit.

When I had a HX520 go wrong a few years back under warranty, Corsair sent me an HX650 as a replacement! That may not happen if that happens to you.

10 year warranty does sound very good but remember you will need to cover shipping prices to the Netherlands yourself this isn't cheap.

Not had the best service myself when dealing with EU Corsair they didn't answer a fair amount of questions I asked and was always trying to get me to pay for extras with well over inflated postage prices.

The US service fantastic but you can't do rma with them.

Regarding this model PSU I have read many reports it has issues with heat due to the way the fan profile works and the plastic for the connectors not being very good quality.

I was tempted to buy one myself at £85 (OCUK B grade) it appeared like a bargain.

@edGfaCTor I did know that Corsair had a Bolton based returns for the UK. Also you could get a prepaid returns label, that I have seen mentioned, to return goods to them via DHL to NL.

Do you know if that has changed to now need to pay to return goods to NL yourself, like you have written?

I had contacted them many times which ranges from 10 years ago unto about 4 years ago and they had no UK returns the items was not purchased from here so maybe that is OCUK deal with Corsair UK returns also they didn't cover the shipping to them only back.

Due to the poor service I stayed clear of them and their products are over inflated prices anyway (sometime places may have a deal)

Other manufactures I have found to be far better

One of my faulty items was the front panel ports on a case they wanted me to ship the whole case back to them in EU or I can buy the ports separate which would be almost £20 from what I remember (other companies do not do this they would just send you replacement ports at most you pay shipping)

Another dealing which was PSU related but this was around 8 years ago the old HX series PSU only came with 6 pin cable later they released it again with two 8 pin so I contacted them EU department wanted me to buy the cable set shipping was going to be around £8 and cables they wanted between £15-25 they wouldn't allow to buy one cable (I contacted US they sent me the whole set including the bag for free)

June this year, I contacted Corsair directly about a headset. Corsair provided a FOC DHL return label (which had a destination address in Bolton). The replacement came directly from the Netherlands, I believe, but I didn't have to pay any fees for the import. Pretty straight forward replacement, took just under 3 weeks.

Maybe they handle different products differently (e.g. where they have appropriate testing factilities).

I thought that I hadn't remembered it incorrectly as my pre labelled return of my old HX805w PSU was to Bolton and their replacement seemed to come from NL. Bottom line was they paid for the return with their label.
I have not tried this, have done so with Western Digital, but I think that Corsair offer an advanced replacement service. Not sure what it embraces or covers but could be useful.

This may be based on how long you have had the item and the type.

Good info to have be interesting to hear from others regarding PSU

I think that it also depends who you talk to, it shouldn't but I think that can matter.
I know that did for me with an Asus faulty router. After much discussion and refusal from Amazon to refund me on another attempt, speaking to a different agent, I got a full refund offered immediately.

You'll be fine and you should have plenty of headroom to spare.
I have a 3600x with a KFA 3090 and the older RM850 (yellow rather than white lettering, 2013 I think) and the power draw doesn't even hit 650w on RDR2.
