Will this work together as 650M has 2x 6 pin connectors? Or do I need a new PSU for this?

Also what connectors does 970 cards use? Does it depends on which brand?

Thanks.

It is workable with adapters, but not without.

As the TX650M is a good PSU with ample power for the card, I would be tempted to try using adapters.

I suspect that you could get away with using a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter, but the way I would do it is with a dual molex to 6 pin adapter, so that you have three 6 pin connectors, and then plug the 6 pin connector from the adapter, and one of the native 6 pin connectors, into a dual 6 pin to 8 pin adapter, so that you have a 6 pin and an 8 pin connector.

Doing it like this will also ensure that you are not putting too much strain on the PSU, unlike if you were to use a dual molex to 8 pin adapter, which I would never do.

Aren't most 970's 6+6 pin apart from the high clocked custom pcb versions? If you went for one of these 6+6 pin versions (check manufacturers websites and reviews to double check) then you won't have to worry about messing around with adaptors.

I am looking at 980ti mainly because it is an overkill for 1080p gaming, also pretty much future proof if I decide to go 4K. I will look into manufacturers websites, however to avoid buying a new PSU i could go with adapter :)

I will see what PSU's are available and if they suite my pocket I will probably go for a new one which won't need connectors. 980ti will pretty much empty it already lol.. thanks for an idea tho. Could anyone give me a link to one of these cables please?

Normal 980ti's are 8+6 pin or the higher clocked custom pcb ones are 8+8 pin so you would need one or two of these:-

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £5.63
(includes shipping: £2.74)

Just plug them directly onto the end's of your current psu's pci-e cables. I would look around for a nicer braided version though. It wouldn't perform any better but would look much better than that.

I don't think you need any additional cables other than the cables that came with your PSU. TX650M do come with 2 x 6+2 PCI-E connectors, the ones that you need to support a single 980Ti.
