Hey all,

Looking for opinions.. I've extensively google searched and looked at many different forums and I can't find a solid answer of yes or no.

I purchased the KFA2 GeForce GTX 970 OC Silent "Infin8 Black Edition" recently and im very impressed. Now I'd like to SLI another one, however im not sure if I need to upgrade my power supply.

Im in the position that if I dont need to upgrade the PSU I can SLI now or ill have to wait because of the money envolved.

I already know I need to replace my mobo as it only supports Crossfire which is fine but I'd rather not purchase a new power supply if my current one is sufficient.

My specs are as follows:

Intel core i7 4770k ( No overclock)
Arctic freezer rev 2 Cpu cooler.
2x 8gb Corsair vengence 1600mhz RAM.
Crucial 128 SSD.
2x 1TB 7200 WD harddrives.
Avermedia Live Gamer HD capture card.
Antec 902 case. (Fans totalling 4x 120mm 1x240mm).
BD Drive.
Mobo will be a MSI z97 Gaming 5 (currently MSI G43).

And 1x KFA2 GeForce GTX 970 OC Silent "Infin8 Black Edition" of course.

Would my Corsair TX750 be enough to drive 2 of these cards with a little headroom or am I pushing my luck? :)

Its barely a year old so Id rather not upgrade unless its really needed.

Thanks :)

Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

The psu will be fine. Depending on it's age it's either a CWT built unit with 720w on the 12v rail, a Seasonic built unit with 744w on the 12v rail or a Chicony Power Technology built unit with 744w on the 12v rail. If it's around a year old it's likley to be the latter. You have more than enough for SLI 970's plus loads spare for overclocking. Reviews have shown total system power draw of SLI 970's to be in the 450-500w range. They are extremely efficient cards.

Thanks for the reply :)

Most of the info I was getting online were saying about it pulling around 400-500 watts from the wall as well so I was thinking it must be fine. Just got a bit confused when others were saying you want at least 800w which didn't make sense.

Least it saves me £100 :D
