Hey so I am building my dream machine and I have an issue with my Ram.

I Burn tested the system for two days and the ram seemed to work fine, but now that I have put the Waterblocks on GPU's and CPU it will only boot if I have 1 stick of DDR4 in the machine.

I wanted to ask if me moving the GPU's (from 1st and 3rd to 1st and 2nd) slot on the Motherboard could be the issue?

I am going to try some trouble shooting tonight when I get home but thought I would see if anyone had the same issue as me and had some potential answers so I can go home and try them all,

I have 16gb of LPX DDR4, a MSI X99s SLI Plus and the 5820k CPU with Dual 980ti's, PSU is an EVGA 1300w G2

Thanks :D

Could possibly an overtightened water block causing the board to warp thus effecting the cpu pin contacts.

Moving gfx cards around from one slot to another should have no effect on RAM.

I never even thought of that. I will loosen up the CPU block tonight as one of my checklists :) Thank you stulid

As Stulid suggested you can try reseating the CPU and block checking for even mounting pressure (and the pins in the process). Could otherwise be memory training issue. Using the system for a few days prior only to have training issues now is not uncommon

Hey SIlent Scone thanks for the reply. Can I just ask what classes a memory training issue? A quick google brought me to a wealth of brain training excercises but nothing on Ram xD have you got some reading material or article?

I wouldn't look too much into it. If the board consistently doesn't post with any more than one DIMM slot filled it sounds more like a mounting / socket issue considering it was working before. So check this firstly.

Memory training shapes the wave forms for the settings applied. For instance if you are experiencing memory training issues now but weren't 2 days ago in some cases this can be due to the memory being run at speeds / latency too close to it's limit where what is known as drift occurs. I do not think this is your issue however, check your CPU mounting pressure first as suggested.
