hi

i have Corsair Vengeance Arctic White 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz memory, i'm wondering could i run them with tighter timings or higher clock? at the moment its at 1600mhz c9-9-9-24 1.35v. but looking at cpuz it seems theses can handle up to 1.5v?

I've not bothered overclocking mine, just havent got around to it, when I had my AMD rigs I always used to be buying RAM and seeing what overclocks best.

Overclock3D in their review had some success click here >> http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/memory/corsair_vengeance_lp_8gb_1_35v_review/3

What version on the heatspreaders do you have? I might have a play around with mine as well see what they can do.

You'll have to try to see what you can do.

Tighter timings make virtually no difference to Sandy Bridge so I wouldn't bother going down that route.

Higher RAM speed also makes little difference but it's better than tighter timings.

If you're going to try anything try increasing the RAM speed.

As above - if you're happy pushing 1.5V through the memory (which isn't a problem) then it's possible you could squeeze a few hundred MHz out of them.

If you feel tighter timings will benefit your uses more then you could tinker with the settings at the higher voltage.

The gains will be negligible but then this is an overclocker forum and getting the most out of your HW is fun (regardless of the minimum gains sometimes) so good luck with it.

There's very little to be gained with Sandy Bridge by using tighter timings.

There aren't great gains to be had either by using RAM over 1600MHz but if you're going for anything it's the way to go.

Higher speed is better than tighter timings.

Yeah was the same with AMD when I had the 790FX and 890FX Chipsets, maybe 1fps in it regardless of timings when doing gaming benchmarks anyway, did tests 5 times using the average fps rate.

I bet their is abit more fps increase on the Intel Chipsets depending on the timings used etc.
