Hi All,

I bought the below kit today from ocuk.

Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B)

The Cpu is overclocked to 4.2 gig

When i turn on the xmp profile1 it changes settings to 9-9-9-24 values at 1600MHz, 1.50V However the pc will not boot.

However if i reset the bios to defaults, and remove all the overclock the pc will boot with the xmp turned on and ram will run at 1.5 volts

To keep the cpu overclock I have had to set the values on the ram manually and up the ram volts to 1.64

What am i missing here, or doing wrong.

thanks in advance

What is the 'Cammand Rate' set at?

If it's set at 1T try 2T and then try to reduce the volts.

Additional: You may also want to consider running metest for a few hours...

command rate is set to T2
have tried T1 also.
have tried all combinations that i can think of to get it to run at 1.5v with the cpu oc.
unless i reset bios to defaults it just wont run at 1.5

will try memtest over night

Is this RAM in the PC in your signature?

If it is why dual channel on a triple channel motherboard?

And you're not running it along with the OCZ Gold are you?

If it's not for the PC in your signature what's the specification of the PC it is in?

Yes it is in this pc right now.
Running dual channel as only bought dual channel kit. 2 x 4 gig = 8 gig
No I am not running it alongside anything else. Removed The older OCX 6 gig triple kit.

doing my sweed in with it.

done a quick test with windows memtest
can see that memtest will show any errors as it is running well with the higher volts.
has to be something screwed in my oc that this ram dont like

Your earlier post indicates it will run at 1.5V without the overclock.

This suggests that the overclock is having an effect somewhere requiring the RAM to run at a higher voltage.

Have you checked that when you overclock the processor you're not overclocking the RAM beyond 1600MHz?

Check the memory tab in CPU-Z to see what speed the RAM is running at with the overclock.

Possibly, but i've had faulty memory that would apparently run OK with enough volts pushed through it - although with perlonged testing it would eventually give up errors (as in 4hrs min) plus BSODs.

It may well prove to be something else but i would still be tempted to run a lengthy memtest (bootable ISO rather than windows) just to rule it out.

If the OCZ was running OK before the new memory was installed that would also hint that it's a memory problem?

But if the OCZ was having problems too - then you're probably right in that it may be the MB or other...

the ram is deffo set to 1600, and shows in cpuz as 800.0Mhz FSB:DRAM 2:8 9-9-924-88-2T

will look again at the oc

Thanks for the help

Have to be honest the ocz was rock solid with the same oc in place.
all I did was replace the Ram and enable the profile1. would not boot.
so done manual input and as said had to raise volts to 1.64 to get it stable

Is your 4.2GHz overclock including Turbo or is that disabled?

In other words is your FSB 200MHz with Turbo enabled or just 210MHz?

200MHz at 2:8 would be 800MHz.

210MHz at 2:8 would be 840MHz.

Then it maybe a straight forward memory compatibily problem or plain old faulty memroy.

Have you tried the system with one stick - testing each separately?

It is Turbo enabled, turned off and tested still the same.
Yes blk is set to 200

I went for Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB for 2 reasons. 1. Cosmetic as it goes well with the gigabyte board i have. 2. It was time to upgrade a little bit and also to reduce some voltage in my oc.

almost all boards will do triple channel these days, but unless you have the extra cash dual channel memory for now is good.
Can always buy another pair or single stick at some point when cash is more available.

Looks like it got it sussed now.

It was all down to the qpi/vtt and IOH Core Volts.
Upped them just a tad to 1.255 on qpi/vtt and 1.20v on the IOH and all is booting fine with 8 gig and stable at 4.2 gig with IBT for 20 rune at max
max temp 69
