hello i bought some corsair veng 12gb last week to replace my xms3 , i have a ramp 2 extreme board but i think the ram was causing my desktop to freeze up ( had to hard reset) iam guessing i have to enter the ram timings manual?

would it of been the ram causing this you think? i put my xms3 back in and had no freeze up's since.

So how do i enter ram timings manualy?

thanks

If you moved from 6gb to 12gb, youll need to increase qpi/vtt voltage a bit. 12gb places more strain on the cpu's memory controller, therefore you need more voltage to compensate for this. As for entering timings, in bios under ai overclocking, navigate to the section that says dram timing control, hit enter and this will bring up the ram timings menu, set timings to match your new ram, hit F10 to save changes and exit bios.

well i thought it fixed it but it still freezes this time it took 8 hours to freeze up :(

could it be the new ssd? i bought a ocz agility 3.

doesnt it support xmp? your memory? could be ssd,you have marvell sata3 ports on that board? if so best to swap ssd to intel sata2

iam running the veng @ its proper speed now (1600) so far no freezes but we will see and no ramp 2 extreme dont support sata 3.

what you mean swop to intel sata2?

thanks for replies btw,

no its fine its only if your board has marvell sata3,they can be unstable, you only have sata2 so that wont be an issue
