What are people's experience with the above companies in their customer service, in particular their RMA? I am looking at getting some DDR3, but torn between some Dominator GTs or some G.Skill Perfect Storm. Corsair are 60 quid more expensive for me, are they worth it?

Memory:

G.Skill Perfect Storm "Low Latency" 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000C8 2000MHz Triple Channel Kit

Corsair Dominator GT 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000C8 2000MHz Triple Channel Kit

EDIT: Would also be useful to know people's experience with the above modules.

Thanks. :)

I've got G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit.

Worked brilliantly from October-18th Jan when one stick died. Sent it back to OCuk for RMA as i thought it would be faster and easier than dealing with G.Skill direct (they are based in Taiwan i believe). I posted it on the 20th, they recieved it on the 21st, but had to send it back to G.Skill anyway.
So i had no indication of how long this process would take, could be a week could be a month by all i know, which is bad. (I'm a games design student, my pc is essential to have working) As i didnt know how long it was going to take i bought 2Gb of cheap ram just to keep my going until i got mine back, and i got an email yesterday saying it was being shipped to me.

So overall, a bit over 2 weeks for a replacement you're looking at if something goes wrong. I don't know if thats worth 60 quid extra to buy corsair (dunno where corsair are based), but ive ended up paying like 40 quid extra to keep my pc going in that time.

Thanks for the reply. What does it OC like? Just trying to get a general idea of how flexible G.Skill modules are. One thing I would say though I am hearing far more stories about RAM modules failing compared to about a year ago, strange.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure Corsair are based in USA.

No idea about OC'ing. I've never tried it but im going to be giving it a go with my processor, so i may try the RAM aswell on monday when i pick it up. Yeah, just hoping it doesnt fail again..

Gskills are very good, my second fav mems after Geil.
I'm personally not a fan of corsair but considering the amount of money u've thrown into your build already you could just as well go with the dominators gt ( the only worth mem from corsair imo ).

I may still go with the G.Skills yet, as I have heard some cracking reviews about them, most of which even top the dominators, that's why I wanted to ask about customer service just in case G.Skill are notoriously bad or something. The only things the GTs seem to have over G.Skill is the looks, but tbh I don't really care, nor do I want to pay an extra 60 quid for it lol. Also, just because I am spending a lot on my new build, doesn't mean I want to ;) If I can save money in obvious "money waisting" situations I will :)

I recently had to RMA some Dominator DDR3 ... it was posted to Holland and took about a week to get there (this was straight after xmas with all the postage delays) ... within a few days (still bad delays) I had a UPS delivery guy knocking my door with a brand new kit. I cant fault them for customer care :)

Yeh corsair are in holland, but a lot of the rma stuff they send out comes from hong kong, well atleast my PSU did, from hong kong to holland to me.

But still all within 2-2 and a half weeks, so not to bad really.

Out of those 2 kits I'd probably go for the G Skill, but this is only because they are cheaper.

I'm actually thinking about selling my current Dominators to get some G.Skill Tridents instead as I can't get my Corsair stuff to run any faster than their rated frequency, and I've tried absolutely everything, they won't even run at 1680MHz CAS9. :(

offtopic, but what version are your dominators Davy? Neither of my sets are keen on anything much over 1600 (one tops out at 1700, one at 1650 iirc) but both will do cas6 at 1200 to 1300 without any fuss whatsover, while quite undervolted.

I bought some G-Skill Trident off Ebay and they ended up faulty, no questions ask I RMA back to GSkill in Tiawan, whole process took just 10days from me sending. GSkill RMA process very very good and I now have new shiney sticks that work a treat.

I got G-Skill Tridents 6gb for £110 on Ebay, one faulty stick which i wasnt aware of. emailed G-Skill and within 10days I had a completely new set. I think G-Skill RMA process is very good, my experience of this was anyway especially in that i told them i got the memory off ebay and only paid £110 when the price should have been £190. They said send back to us and we will check. I had tested each stick and they all worked fine no issues but when all 3 were plugged in i was seeing intermitant amounts 4gb instead of 6gb. Anyway my experience with G-Skill was excellent :D

Have you considered OCZ?

I love my OCZ memory, also I have dealt with OCZ customer service when I had to RMA a PSU and they were very good.

Ran G.skill memory in my last 2 rigs and this one. I think it's fantastic memory and good for overclocking with. I really rate their memory. To be honest, I think their memory combined with DFI motherboards is quite a good combo. :)

I have, I originally looked at getting some OCZ blade, but hardly anyone has it in stock, and those that do are charging a bomb for it.

Obviously my recommendation would be biased so I won't mention it. But, if you have any direct questions from Corsair, I'd be happy to help.

Good luck and have fun with the brand you decide to go with.
