Corsair VX 550W

I'm pretty sure its been release, but I haven't found any UK retailers selling it, probably because it would hinder HX520 sales.

I wish they would sell it though....

if your not bothered by modular then the VX is your best bet. same good build quility but no modular cables, its cheaper too and 30w more powerful.

So the HX520W is now inferior compared to the VX550W?

I just cant imagine using a non modular PSU after using 2 modular PSU's.

Will this extra 30W really matter?

And does the HX520 not have more combines Amps, 54 adding all the rails up, but obviously less for effeciency, so which one can power more really?

All the HX series have over this new VX550 is that they are modular. The voltage regulation, ripple and efficiency are all superior on the VX550 (only the 550 though, not the 450).

By strange coincidence, it is the only supply in their lineup that isn't built for them by Seasonic.

The 520 has 40amps on the 12v rail.

So how much does the VX550W has, since it aint 100% efficient it cant have the amount of amps that is is rated at on the label.

Oh well, the HX520W cant be a bad PSU tho, is it going with those type-r's now?

I doubt the Hx are going to be the next Hipers, espescially with all the good reviews, If you want: I bit more power= VX550W
Modular = HX520W

If they were both the same price im sure many would pick the HX

If it's stated that it's 85% efficient for example it only means it draws 15% more power from the wall socket than it needs to, Thus wasting electricity and needlessly increasing your bill.

total power is the rated output, not the rated input.for example, jonnyguru tested the vx550 and with a 522w load it was drawing 635w from the mains. and no power supply will even be 100% efficient.
