2 years ago i bought some
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 12800C7 (1600MHz) 7-8-7-20

now i see the same brand and speed is rated
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9)

1600MHz RAM Speed, CAS 9-9-9-24

from clock 7 to clock 9 at the same speed?

Manufacturers sell kits with different timmings that run at the same mhz. Normally the kits with the tighter timmings (lower numbers) are more expensive but perform better.

which is why its weird the set i bought 2 years ago with the better timmings is no longer made. Looking closer it seems it was 1.65v so i guess thats the difference.

That XMS 3 kit you bought 2 years ago is undoubtedly PSC IC's which are very high quality IC and clock like hell at tight timings given volts. At 1600mhz CAS 6 will be easy!!!!

Dont buy that POS second kit, The first is far superior!!!!
