Corsair XMS3 - What times could I get?

I've got the 2x2GB and it hardly clocks, best I've got out of it so far is 7-9-8-23-30-1T 1600MHz 1.680v.

I need to research some decent stuff.

For what difference it makes it's not worth bothering.

Only really relevant for benchmarking and if you're big into benchmarking you'd be buying something for more extreme and expensive.

I disagree Surveyor, in encoding it makes a big difference, at least on amd cpu's anyway.. they love tighter timmings especially if your cpu-nb is oced.

9-9-9-24
vs
7-9-8-20 <- extra 30FPS

Full settings:
1100T 4.0GHz 1.425v, NB 3000Mhz 1.400v, HT 2200MHz
2x2GB 1600MHz 7-9-8-20-28-1T 1.680v

Simples.

I'm well aware in games it doesn't make a huge difference. I am however interested in what they are capable of that is all. No reason to just buy any old lot of ram when there are several on the market around the same price point. Might as well get the best one out of them if its not going to cost me any extra.

Not so simples.

You've still provided no point of reference.

An increase from 1,000fps to 1,030 fps is irrelevant.

An increase from 100fps to 130fps would be impressive (and unbelievable).

ubelieveable is the phrase i was thinking when i read the last post before yours post, i encode avchd 8Gb Hd encodes for a HD torrent site, and i can tell you tighter timings do not affect my encoding times, overclocking my cpu does massively.

ive been encoding 24/7 for the last 4 years, never has ram improved anything i have encoded with tighter timings, you may get 1% but ive never noticed, certainly not 30fps, you may get a 30fps increase in something like convertxtodvd where i can reach 1050fps, but not in hd encoding where 30fps would cut my encode time in half lol
