Cost effective spam filtering....

Hi all, at current we dont have any spam filtering in place on our systems so some of our email addresses get hammered with junk emails.

We were originally going to look at getting Symantec's cloud based solution but it was coming in at £1700-£1800 per year for all our users so we were looking for something cheaper.

Then I stumbled across Postini as it was MASSIVELY cheaper (about a fifth of the price) but it appears that they do not sell it on its own now after a convo with someone over at Google Ireland, they'll only sell it to Google Apps customers. Lame.

Now I've seen that because we are a charity we can get Symantec Mail Security 6.5 for Microsoft Exchange for £3+VAT per user, which is a great price but i'm just wondering if anyone knows of any alternatives for a similar price, or any other good cloud based services?
 
Because the costs for moving over to Google Apps are way over our budget when we have a perfectly good and working exchange server!
 
Just as an update to this, we did end up opting for Symantec Mail Security (As we got it with a large charity discount).....it seems to do the job OK, but I'm thinking a web based service like SpamHero might be better as it would stop these emails even hitting our servers first.

The config and setup of SMS is a bit of a pita and it doesnt really learn anything about your mail system, you have to manually submit emails to Symantec which you want adding to their global database (of which I still haven't managed to set up properly).

Plus we are actually upgrading from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 and if there are going to be foreseeable problems I may just use this as an opportunity to give SpamHero a try to see how it compares.

I'd rather just have something that runs in the background on its own with little config. The only issue is that with the nature of our business I'm worried banned words etc may get blocked even though they have a legitimate business use for us!
