So I'm wondering what the costs are to powder coat a case?

How would I go about finding a decent powder coater?

Also wondering if it requires me doing anything first, (Dismantling/sanding etc..) or could I literally take an empty case down to local powder coaters and say "I want this in colour X"

Oh, and can you do non-metal parts as well as metal parts?

I would say cost depends from company to company, ask around for rough ideas.

Talk to people like car/bike enthusiasts, as the chances are they might have had chassis/frames coated and could put you in touch with the right person.

Dismantling is pretty important as it makes it easier for the powder coating gun to reach the whole part and it also means that no small features are hidden by rivets/panels etc.

I would imagine all powder coaters will degrease jobs first to allow clean adhesion of the powder and to prevent blemishes in the finished product.

Coating non-metal parts is hit and miss as the powder needs to be cured at temperature. therefore not all materials can withstand said temps.
