How much would it roughly cost to trim these monstrosities? I'm talking to about the neighbours fence height. They have no interest in gardening so have let them get out of control, blocking sunlight getting in my rear garden.

Have you asked permission to cut them down?

Got to cost at least £250 maybe more if you want them disposed off too.

I have yes and the neighbour is fine with it.

It doesn't require any special skill taking those down. If you can't do it yourself, maybe find some labourer types who you can pay a day rate to. They'll have them all down in a day easy. Getting the stumps out would be a different matter but it doesn't sound like you need that doing.

They're absolutely huge though, nearly 3 storeys high.

It's the neighbours trees but the problem is she's rarely ever in, i've only managed to talk to her a handful of times if that.

I'll be having a go at this myself before I call anyone out judging by some of the replies here. Not sure when as there's still a lot of work to be done inside and outside the house but i'll update this thread in due course.

Thanks for your feedback guys.

Hi guys sorry for the late reply.

The end property in the terrace is the last council property on the estate, when I spoke to the lady that lives in the house she said she had tried to contact Derby City Council before to get it sorted as when she had moved in they were already there. I initially tried to chase this with DCC as I was told that because it was on a council-owned property that the council could remove these.

I tried chasing for about two weeks. Got a name of a chap to contact there who after a week of back and forth all of a sudden was constantly in ''meetings'' or ''busy''. I escalated this to my local councillor detailing the situation and how ****** off I was and the next day he turned up to discuss a removal date! I won't name drop here but this guy was really on the ball and a credit to the suburb I live in.

Tied everything up and they got cut and chipped this year, here's some before/after shot:
