Hi All,

Sometime since I built my lag rig with a lot of input from guys on here :)
This time I want something really powerful but unsure how much I need to spend as gaming machines start cheap going upto ridiculous prices.

Can you confirm if 2k is enough for a gaming rig? Just the tower as I will get a new monitor at a later date currently got the Dell 24inch.

Also is it worth getting the Titan graphics to help future proof?

I am looking for gaming pc which is future proof. I do a lot of movie watching, surfing the net and playing a lot of star citizen which my current pc can not handle.

Yes its easy, you just have to rely on Nvidia getting good drivers out quick, which in fairness I've not had any issues with that.

You have enough budget to get a very powerful machine and even watercool it. Watercooling could give you a very quiet machine while keeping your temps super low. Even if you've never done it before if you're the kind of person who likes building stuff and you follow a good guide (and the infinite advice on here) its very enjoyable. I started from internet guides and have never had a problem.

If you had a 980ti now you could always add another later if necessary, I can't see it being worth the cost of 2 of them now or even a titan X.

I got an X99 mobo
5930k
16Gb DDR4
Samsung m2 SSD (got a standard one like an idiot!)
H110 AIO
and a Titan X for £2003 or there abouts.
I already had a case and a PSU.

Doing it again I'd get a 980ti instead of the Titan X and a Samsung sm951 SSD.

Hi Lee,

thanks for the quote. Will this system play star citizen at max settings? how good is the graphics card?

If you are buying the pc specifically for that game, then it might be best to wait until it is fully released.

If you just want a general powerful gaming pc then the 980 ti is the best choice for the gpu, as it is almost as fast as a Titan X but for £200 or so less.

I assumed that your current Dell Monitor was a 1080p screen, but it is actually a 1440p screen, so you could always keep that for now.

I chose the Zotac card just so it didn't go too far over budget, and it has a good length warranty. If you don't want/need the 1440p ROG Swift Monitor then it can be changed for something else like a Gigabyte G1.
