My girlfriend has gone back into our former secondry school to resit her maths shes 18 and today she revieved this email...

"Could you please e mail me all your details so I can forward them to Mr S Rothwell as a matter of urgency, Also you need to be aware that it will cost £46.60 for the entry and that has to be paid before the school will enter. This has to be done this week so if you come in Wednesday can you bring a cheque"

Shes re-sat exams before and they've only cost her 11pound surley this fee is wrong? unless shes been entered late in which case its there fault no?

the fee varies across exam boards, the previous £11 sounds about right for a single exam but GCSE maths consists of 2 or more iirc.

I thought A level module resits are £11 not GCSE's? I believe that price is for late entry as I remember I wanted 2 resit my GCSE after I got a B and I was told it would cost £46(approx) due to late entry.

£46 sounds about right to me.

As your not a pupil at the school it generally costs more as the government does subsidise the school, like it does if your a pupil.

The deadline was 15th march where they were roughly £12, but since you've missed it you're also being charged fees.

but surley its the schools fault we just had an email back to state that it is late entry and thats why the fee is so high but shes been there since september and heard nothing about it then suddenly "46 quid please!"

We were told that it costs £30 to enter the exam if the school refuses to pay - they threatened that if we dont get our coursework in by the examboard deadlines they wouldn't submit us.
