Cost of importing a b.new bike from EU to UK?

What are the charges of importing a b.new bike from EU to the UK? Considering UK is a part of EU there's no VAT or duty charges?

So far from my calculations:

£150 - Transport to my front door.
£??? - Adjust the headlight so it doesn't blind other road users.
£??? - Registering the bike and since its b.new no MOT is required for 3 years, right?

Am I missing something? :confused:

Well the price in the UK is around 5799, looking at the current currency exchange the same bike b.new will cost me 4358 abroad, the company I used before for transportation will charge me between £100-150. That's of course from my place abroad to UK front door.

So no need to register it or ride it back.

No - although perhaps advisable, any authorised Yamaha dealer for that particular model, is able to carry out warranty repairs.

£131 for UK legal headlight

Then there's the question of Tax and Insurance, I'll try to get estimate figures on monday.

Yeah true, I just thought I could buy a new bike within my budget. If not, buying 2nd hand I can spend less and use some of left over cash on mods.

The VAT is 23%

So without VAT it would be £3478, then with UKs VAT ot'll be £4173 that's for a 2016 ABS model. I could argue the price whilst paying with cash and get it down to 3.8-4k Inc. 20% VAT

it means any authorised Yamaha dealer in the uk for a bike bought in the uk
it doesn't mean from any country.
most if not all main dealers hate grey imports and wont touch them.

Yeah... will probably end up buying some old Honda with ABS for commuting.
