Hi All,

I've got a 2012 A4 and just had a break-in where the spare keys were taken. Admiral will pay £300 for replacement locks but won't pay anything if we decide to get it recoded instead. What am I looking at cost-wise for either option?

Thanks,

Ask around the neighbours. If they didn't take the car there and then, chances are they've just chucked the keys. Happened to us 9 years ago and we were lucky to get a call from a few streets away as they'd found my wife's phone, emptied purse and my car keys in their front garden.

Locks will far more than £300 I would think, it was something like £120 for a single lock mechanism on my A3 when the passenger door one stopped opening.

You mean just to re-program the key or actual locks? :p

If it's a reprogram you can get 3rd party people do it a lot cheaper afaik.

Good news. The police have recovered the keys. The car was involved in 8 burglaries that night, a police chase and a crash. Not got the people yet but saved some hassle at our end.
