Costco membership

Is it possible to join Costco on a personal membership basis? i.e. not a trade member?

Anyone been able to do this?

My brother did ages ago. As far as I remember, if you come into certain categories you can join. He was at the time a civil servant and on that basis was allowed to join.

If you work in the public sector or are a professional you can join.
It's the best shop in the world, literally.

My mum gets an invitation every so often on her wage slip to go for a free breakfast thing to try make you join.

We just eat the breakfast, marvel at the HUGE boxes of chocolate and sneak out :p

The often allow employees of certain private companies to join but afaik the average person of the street cannot walk in and join.

From their website:

Costco is an exclusive wholesale cash and carry membership warehouse club and is not open to the general public. Membership is required. You are eligible for trade membership if you are a bonafide business owner/manager who can provide evidence of trading. Follow our Trade membership tab above for further details.

It's not as cheap as you'd think; especially if you include the membership fee
It's not totally cheap, but it generally is pretty good value, they focus on selling the best quality products at the lowest possible price.
Best bargain I got was these

for £8.
Other bargains include HUGE bottles of car shampoo made by simoniz for £4 Wonder wheels 5ltr for £4 or so.
Cheap cafeteria, free breakfast if you go in before 12, they also have coupons which make stff amazingly cheap.
their tyres are an absolute steal too,
I remember calling my local place trying to price match them, he was shocked at the price because they were cheaper than any of his wholesalers!
