Costco warranty, do I have to be a member?

If I buy something used that was purchased from Costco how would I use the warranty if it failed? Do I have to be a member, is it transferable? I tried to ask Costco but they are telling me to call a warehouse and qoute my member number. :/

AFAIK you have to be a member for the 5 year warranty, you still get the manufacturers 1 year warranty.

I don't mean the Costco warranty, the actual product has 8 year warranty. So there's no point in buying it because I can get an 8 year warranty if I buy it new for only £120 more..

That's somthing you have to ask the company if there warranty is transferable

The manufacturer will require proof of purchase, if you have that then I'm not sure what else you think you need? Why would you need to be a Costco member to make use of the manufacturer's warranty? The implications there would be ridiculous, think about what you're saying. If you decided you didn't want a membership any more, all your manufacturer warranties are void?

The manufacturer doesn't require proof of purchase it goes by the signature, thing is it's dealt with by the place of purchase.

Signature on the product?

You just need proof of purchase then contact the manufacturer if its outside 12 months.
