Hey all, as some of you might know i've been looking at getting a portable laptop for working on. I didn't want a netbook, nor did I want anything too big. I was looking at 12-14" but I wanted dedicated graphics in as well.

Anyway I happened to be passing a large high street chain when I thought i'd pop in and take a look.

I saw they had a Samsung Q210 on the shelf, however the specs listed it as having Intel Integrated graphics. I was just about to walk away when I spotted a dubious looking "nVidia" sticker on the case.

Having a gander in the control panel, I found that it wasn't Intel graphics, but instead the 9200M GS version with 256MB GDDR3!

The best part? It was priced like the Intel version (I think in error). So I got me a brand new Q210 with 9200M GS 256MB for under £500!

Chuffed to bits really. It's a lovely laptop.

Wow, thats cheap! My Q210 with P8400/3GB/320gb was £650. They definately priced it at the P210 model

Also, the 9200 clocks really well. Stock 3dmark06 was 2000, using ntune I clocked it to 700/850 and now get 2700. Plays COH and TF2nicely

I wonder how long before we see

"letter from company demanding extra money due to them giving me the wrong laptop!" :p

But seriously, what does it say on the invoice? as if you need any warranty work doing down the line they are going to see thats its the wrong machine if the numbers dont match. Hopefully you have the paperwork for the right model but they priced it wrong, however if they scanned the box surely the barcode would have brought up the correct model and price?

Was it a one off end of line/demo thing? or have they been selling them all at the wrong price! hehe

I'm not really sure - it came up at the till at a much bigger price, but after pointing out the price on the shelf the sales assistant took it off.

Also they scanned the barcode on the box so it's certainly the correct model.

Was just a smidge under £485 all in, it's "only" got the 2GHz 2MB C2D and 2GB DDR2 but I know it's upgradable.

Nice result then, seems the paperwork should be in order if the scanner came up at the right price and they knocked it down.

Jammy bugger!

Gratz, but thats the right price for that laptop with the 9200 in and the 2Ghz C2D in. The intel graphics is marked up wrong but they know that.

I don't think it is actually. They do the Q210 in different guises. Its the last few letters that dictate the model further (FSS1UK) is sub £500 but only has the x4500 graphics chipset in it, which, in itself is not that bad.

You'll be paying nearer £650 for anything near the dedicated graphics model even from a certain jungle website. :)

I know the place. They allways had this version in with the nvidia in it. I looked at it after christmas. But it has the non centrino cpu and a regular mobile c2d. The few reviews online with this setup suggested its battery performance suffers for it.

Tute, ram and HD are easy to upgrade, but if you try and upgrade the CPU you are a braver man than me :)

Looks like a complete strip down to get to it and there are no service manuals available

Hmmm...was in a large office supply chain today and they had one of these on display with the Nvidia 9200 sticker, T5750 C2D CPU, 160GB HD, 2GB Ram for £489.00

Looking on the main sheet listing the specs by the laptop, it was listed as having the crappy 4500 intel gfx.....

So either this is a new lower price for the Q210 with the 9200gfx and in store literature has yet to catch up with the changes or different shops are making the same mistake, which i find unlikely...

either way, it was the first time i've seen this little beauty in the flesh, and it was quite a tempting purchase....
