So what does everyone think of these? It used to be 'buy Seasonic' or 'get blah because its made by Seasonic', then Superflower arrived and got everyone excited. These Cougar ones look the part, Japanese capacitors and digital to boot.

The software monitoring on the digital units is just a gimmick. HEC is the oem for their psu's and there is nothing special about the units they make. Cougar is going head to head with the likes of Superflower and EVGA on price but depending on gimmicks and mediocre gold rated units. Give me a gold rated unit from EVGA or Superflower anyday.

The new CMD units offer a digital platform at a superb pricepoint. Typically other manufacturers offer their digital units at a much higher price premium. If you are going to use the digital aspects of them, they are a solid choice, but if not, better to go with a SuperFlower based platform.

Go SuperFlower. You literally do not need digital monitoring. It is essentially useless. A well made PSU should be able to keep its voltages stable and stay quiet. It should just silently do its job.
