Could a dirty install of windows give you blue screen

Hello all,

I installed windows 7 thins morning with 8gig ram, and every now and then it would freeze on me with a blue screen, I was told to run memtest and all come back ok, I took 2gig out still blue screen I carried on taking 2gig out untill I only have 2gig left in the machine and it still gave a blue screen,

Anyway I done a fresh install of window's it's been 30mins and no crash as yet with 4gig of ram in, I was wondering other then the ram what else could it be..??

Oh yes. If it runs OK and all RAM sticks tested OK, then it should be fine.

I'll keep an eye on it as I want to use the other 4gig also,

Yeah a corrupt install can cause all sorts of problems.

Tell me about it.

Being old I am arrogant & stupid when i build for myself & cut corners i shouldn't, This led to me not re installing W7 when i knew i should tuther week. Booted great for days & i even clocked it successfully but a week later all sorts of weird things were happening. Totally borked my re instal four times after that as well until i reformatted my HD & started again.
All fine & dandy now, Well better than ever to be honest but *** me I want to Punch myself in the face sometimes. :mad:

Lol, so true. Really should do a clean install soon too but keep telling myself to pick up an ssd and kill two birds with one stone.
