Could a GPU cause a System Crash?

Main question in title. After about 30 minutes in Hitman the system hangs and then requires a reboot to solve. Had other issues with my Mobo so got a replacement from over clockers today and it's still happening. Ram also passed all tests. CPU seems to pass all stress tests. So the only thing that I think it could be is my Xfire 7970s or PSU ( could still be my CPU, but its not OC'd and temps seem excellent).

12.11 It also crashed with 12.10 though =/ which makes me think it isn't driver related.

Don't rule out driver error especially if you have come from NVIDIA

It's a brand new system =/

Any idea how I could test what's at fault for the crash? As during stress test I get good readings.

yeh even tied backdating drivers as well.

Yeh same issue with using either card on its own. Except it goes yellowy black before it crashes. Whereas with 2 it just crashes displaying what it was when it crashed.

Was it in Hitman? And are you running Windows 8?

Nope, it's at stock.

Yeh my 7970s didn't go past 60 degrees. My CPU stayed a nice chilly 40-50 degrees. I had logs going so I could see all readings till the point of the crash.

Arent we only upto 12.11? So 12.8? Me=ConfuseD?

Yeh the RAM passed Memtest86+ several times without error. Also did 12 hours of Prime95 with perfection.

Just had a replacement motherboard which the orignal was faulty as I thought this issue was related to that, but it still kept happening afterwards.

I thought it was 12.1.1 my bad.

12.8 are older drivers. It may have been 12.7 that was reported as very stable but what ever, try a few to confirm if it is driver or other issues.

Where can I get 12.8 64 bit driverS? Can't find anywhere that looks legit.

Just got them but I can onyl find a 32 bit version?

Any help?

Cheers hopefully this works. I really hope it is a driver issue because otherwise it's a hardware issue and that will be annoying.

I went bac to using 12.11 drivers. Tried Single Card in lower settings and I'm not having any problems.

Makes me think its either my other card, or crossfire 7970s can't handle hitman at max settings. You would think it would, right?

You think I should try for a replacement?

Il try just using the 2nd card. Then iil know if it's that one or not
