Could an external monitor damage my laptop?

Hi guys... new to the forum... :)

I purchased a rather expensive monitor that with hindsight I wish I never did, a Hazro HZ27WC.

I have attempted to connect it to both my netbook and my new dell l702x although upon connection it immediately produces a bsod screen on both, via HDMI connection (using a DVI to HDMI lead).

I was aware of it producing the bsod with the netbook, but just presumed it might be because the netbook just simply wasn't capable of supporting the high resolution required by the monitor, and so expected all to be fine when connecting to my dell.

This was not to be the case however, with the monitor causing immediate bsod on the new dell.

I am a little concerned as to what might be causing this problem, and perhaps more significantly whether the monitor could have caused any damage to my new laptop/graphics card?

Is it possible for a dangerous current to be sent through the lead from the monitor or anything like that?

or is it a possibility that the wire itself could be faulty and if so could it itself cause harm? (I haven't been able to try an alternative lead yet).

Thanks for your opinions guys...

I have a extenal monitor for my Dell XPS 17 , runs a treat . Should not damage you laptop at all :D

It should work. And I doubt very much that it will have damaged your laptops.

Have you tried connecting it to anything else other than your laptops?
