Could an old PSU be a speed bottleneck?

I've just upgraded my PSU from an ancient one to a new one with massive headroom and I swear things are loading faster. It's not a massive difference but enough for me to notice when looking for it. Doing a rough calculation I was on the edge of minimum requirements for my rig (a bit under by some peoples thoughts) and I now have a bunch of headroom. Could this coupled with an old psu getting less efficient with age be a reason for things being a bit snappier?

I'm fully expecting it to be placebo. I did dust the PC before installing the new PSU but not much dust came out and perhaps the BIOS reset when I had it powered off which might have more of an impact.
