Ive been trying, got to 850 but it was with a 80gb hardrive and i really need more than this. this is what ive got so far:

Gigabyte GA_M55_S3G Plus (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ 2.00GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail

Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 80GB ST3802110A ATA-100 2MB Cache - OEM

OCZ GameXStream 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply

Gainward BLISS GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

NEC AD5170 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM

Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming case

OcUK Gamer Extreme 178GP 17" LCD Monitor - Black/Silver

Logitech Deluxe Keyboard (Black) - OEM (dont need a mouse)

so how could i save money and also possibly go up to a 160gb hardrive without loosing any gaming performace?

crap forgot about that, it was going to be 6400 OCUK 2gb for 146, so that takes it up a bit more but ive removed the monitor.

seems to me that your basing it around your graphics card...

personally i wouldnt scrimp on anything as you'l probaly only end up replacing it sooner or later, ram can be very pricey so i can understand that, but i'd consider core 2 duo if i were you its the way foward atm, or maybe ask for sum bits for x-mas/ wait for sales.
