Hi All,

Firstly this is quite the request but hopefully someone could help.

My work recently gave me the parts for a trx40 setup including a 3970x along with an Asrock Creator TRX40 board, the thing is we cant locate the torx tool needed to install the cpu. I have tried online but it cant seem to be bought anywhere. I do have a torx 20 required to fit it socket and have tried to do an install but the motherboard gives me error code "00" which I understand to be a cpu issue. So the request I have, would anyone here be willing to lend me theirs for a few days?? I have substantial feedback on ebay and avforums and would happily give a "deposit" until it is returned.

If anyone could help it would be really appreciated.

Alternatively if anyone could point me in the direction where I could pick one up in the Uk?

Cheers

That is correct, the tool is not custom except that we had some made specifically for Threadripper ... marketing!

As noted in the previous thread the bit is used and the documentation specifies the torque requirement for the lid.

The torque screw driver is set at 16.1 kgf-cm (14.0 lbf-in) and fitted with a Torx T20 screw head bit.

Hi,

If the description of the torque required is not enough (you don't have the ability to measure it) I can send you one.
It might take a few days to get it posted out depending on where I am and finding a covid-free queue at the post office.

You know you can now book collections from the Post office for 69p, the posty will collect your parcel so you don’t even need to leave the house.

Hi All,

Many thanks for the responses, and the help, it is very much appreciated. I may be able to get a tool that does 1.5nm of force(14 lbf-in) so I'm going to give that a try hopefully tonight if it arrives. Will keep you posted. @PDW I would really appreciate that should this not work out

Cheers

Again all, many thanks for the offer of help, it was very much appreciated. I can now confirm I have the board and cpu working :) It was definitely the lack of proper install force when mounting the cpu. I got this tool from amazon for anyone interested:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00V5SCNCO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It allowed me to set the force to 1.5nm with the 20mm head and clicked when the required torque is reached....hey presto i'm up and running!! 3970x/3090 Zotac/128gb DDR4 3600MHz and Sabrent Rocket 4, so all running very nicely :)

Again cheers and hopefully this helps anyone else down the line who may lose that threadripper tool.
